Its that time of year again!!!

In 2008 11 Rothwell Juniors took on the Dutch and showed them total football as we came home with the most unexpected and memorable victory winning the S.V.Laar U8's tournament as U7's!!!

In 2009 we entered two teams into the biggest, and toughest, two day tournament in Eindhoven. We finished 2nd and 8th out of 48 overall and the stories and legends grew (Mason's celebration for one!)

In 2010 we took on the Belgiums in the most popular tour so far. With out doubt this saw our boys grow in stature as they were pushed to their limits in every way. This brought about a bond within the squad that will last forever! When the second team pulled a last minute draw out of the bag this allowed Oliver Jackson to score what turned out to be the tournament winning goal! The whole squad celebrated together as they had won it together!

This year saw a trip on home soil to the the beautiful seaside resort of Blackpool. It was a fantastic weekend of camping and bonding for players and parents alike! All I need to say is Joe Grant!

Where will the stories come from and the legends grow this year.....

Details coming soon!

Cup Draw

After our 3-2 win against Kexborough we have been handed a tough trip away to Marsden in the third round. Marsden is the furthest outpost of the Huddersfield league to the West and we are the furthet to the East! So I think a bit of car sharing and an early start will be needed!!!

Results

Juniors 8 v 1 Netherton - Mitchell 5, Flett, Richardson, Smail MOM Lewis Smail

A bit of a fresh morning saw us take on Netherton in the league. The last two games have seen us get the results with glimpses of how we can play but we've still been a little rusty after Christmas. However today we went through the gears and started really well. George started things with a lovely finish after a great cross from Fletty. Then George returned the favour with a great cross that Lewis calmly finished. The first 15 minutes were surperb and we played some excellent stuff. However we took our foot of the pedal and Netherton started to put some breaks together and had a couple of corners that we were struggling to clear. The second half saw a turning point when after 5 minutes of pressure Netherton broke and Eddie pulled off a great save. Five passes down the field later and Silvers played a beautiful pass to Sam who tucked away his first of the day. To be fair Sam would be the first to admit he's been a little of the pace since the turn of the year but this clearly lifted Sam and his work rate and tracking back in the second half were excellent. George then set up Lewis Smail who's side footed finish was delightful! Lewis then turned provided as Netherton went on the attack we picked our passes with Silvers, Ollie and Kyle pulling the strings and Sam calmly finished another four! Well done boys as it was cold and not the most pleasant of conditions but the performance was great and Lewis Smail was a deserved winner of the Man of the Match award. He was excellent last week and carried that on this week!
