Its that time of year again!!!

In 2008 11 Rothwell Juniors took on the Dutch and showed them total football as we came home with the most unexpected and memorable victory winning the S.V.Laar U8's tournament as U7's!!!

In 2009 we entered two teams into the biggest, and toughest, two day tournament in Eindhoven. We finished 2nd and 8th out of 48 overall and the stories and legends grew (Mason's celebration for one!)

In 2010 we took on the Belgiums in the most popular tour so far. With out doubt this saw our boys grow in stature as they were pushed to their limits in every way. This brought about a bond within the squad that will last forever! When the second team pulled a last minute draw out of the bag this allowed Oliver Jackson to score what turned out to be the tournament winning goal! The whole squad celebrated together as they had won it together!

This year saw a trip on home soil to the the beautiful seaside resort of Blackpool. It was a fantastic weekend of camping and bonding for players and parents alike! All I need to say is Joe Grant!

Where will the stories come from and the legends grow this year.....

Details coming soon!

Cup Draw

After our 3-2 win against Kexborough we have been handed a tough trip away to Marsden in the third round. Marsden is the furthest outpost of the Huddersfield league to the West and we are the furthet to the East! So I think a bit of car sharing and an early start will be needed!!!

Results

Juniors 5 v 4 Westwood (Mitchell 4, Silverwood (Pen) MOM Sam Mitchell

This was a big game today against the team directly above us in the league. We started off poorly with a sloppy first five minutes which Westwood took advantage of to score a scrappy goal. We then gradually started to click into gear and after a couple of corners Sam was brought down in the box and Silvers smashed home his third penalty of the year! For the next 20 minutes I thought we were excellent with some great passing and through balls. Two off these put Sam into great positions and he showed really composure to finish both chances. At 3-1 up we were looking good but Westwood's left winger, who was excellent throughout the game, showed some real skill and put in a lovely cross that was well finished. To be fair it was the goal of the game and brought Westwood back into it. However after the break Ollie and Kyle worked well to put Sam through again who finished beautifully. Westwood again came back and scored after another goalmouth scramble where we didn't clear our lines. Westwood were throwing everything at us and we had to absorb some pressure for five minutes before Alan broke clear and played another wonderful ball through to Sam who again finished well to give us the two goal advantage. Westwood were now throwing everything at us and although they did pull a further goal back from another scramble in the box we held out for a fantastic win. The first half performance was my highlight, although it was good to see us dig in and hold our nerve. Sam was today's Man of the Match was his composure this week. Also thank you to Yakob for helping out, he put in a great shift to give Kyle and Ollie a breather in the middle, and with Ben and George out today it was a great result.
