A SAD DAY FOR OUR TEAM 16th MAY 2010
This group of boys have been through a lot this season, but nothing can compare with what happened on sunday evening we lost one of our friends of the team. My daughter as been to many games galas and presentations with her friends, and one of these Natasha Elliott sadly lost her life while saving her loving dog. It as been quite an unreal day, my family are in shock and still can not believe it. We have all shed many tears over the last twenty four hours and it will take many months for the children who new Natasha to let go. Can all say a little prayer for a lovely girl. We are all thinking of you R I P .Tasha, Beth says don't eat all the cherry tomatoes

On the final day of season, our boys once again played some fantastic football and eventually got the winner with a couple of minutes to go . A free kick by Olly and Jack glanced the ball into the net, a well deserved victory.GOAL Jack
Farsley Celtic could not get a team to play us,may be an excuse so not to meet us again.
Garforth Villa 0 Rothwell Jnrs 3
A great performance by the whole team some fantastic football and great goals. The 1st was a class move with passes by George , Olly , and Scotty finished off by snake hips himself (Denham) with a great goal. The 2nd was again a team effort but when the ball ended up at Denhams feet he had lots to do ,he drifted around a couple of players and placed the ball in the far corner of the goal. Garforth did get a penalty but a great save from Matty kept us well on top. Half time 2 nil. The 2nd started with us still trying to play but Garforth battled well. Denham broke free again and he could have scored himself as he was one on one with the keeper but he passed across to Olly and he put it into the net. The ref blew for offside but it was a little harsh. The 3rd goal was A good pass by George to Olly who crossed the ball for Ryan who curled his shot into the top corner . GOALS. Denham 2 Ryan B 1
Collingham 2 Rothwell Jnrs 1
A quite unreal result, if it was a boxing match the ref would have stopped it after 20 mins . Collingham didn't get out of there half for the 1st 20 mins as they couldn't get the ball off us ,Lewis was outstanding in centre mid and we thought it would be a matter of time ,but Collingham it us with a sucker punch there 1st real sortie into our half and a ball seemed to loop over the keeper and into the net unreal .Half time 1 nil. 2nd half started and again a mistake led to the striker placing the ball into an empty net. We did manage to get one back from Jack and may be we could have had a pen but really we didn't have enough players in the 2nd half on there game .GOAL Jack 1
Ossett Town 4 Rothwell Jnrs 6
A lovely morning and the boys started very strong with Scotty probing and setting Jack away a couple of times but on the break Ossett got the opener with a right wing cross and crossed the line. It wasn't long before we went went 2 1 up with Jack getting the 1st and Jordan the 2nd. Ossett then equalized from a corner. We thought we were going in at half time equal but Olly put in a great corner and with everyone challenging the ball ended up in the Ossett net. Half time 2 3. The 2nd half started with Rothwell putting pressure on the Ossett goal and the next goal was probably the best ,a clever through ball by Olly put Denham away and clever play by Denham put him in space then he cooly placed the ball in the corner of the net. The next goal was powered in by Jack from the edge of the area where he turned the defender and a powerful finnish ended i the corner of the goal. We were now 5 2 up and cruising and with only 10mins left thought the game was over, but Ossett didn't give up and scored 2 goals in 5 mins to put the game back in the ballance. The game was secured in the last couple of minutes when a good challenge by Jack in the box fell to Olly and he put the ball away from around 12 yards.GOALS Jack 2 Jordan 1 Denham 1 Olly 1
Rothwell Jnrs 3 Colton 2
Another very combative game. The 1st half started with us dominating proceedings and it was no surprise when we took the lead after 10 mins , Lewis smashed a great drive leaving the keeper with no chance. Lewis and George are both playing fantastic at the moment and both look very comfortable in the middle of the park. Colton got level with a free kick on our left and the player crossed the ball and seemed to go straight in. We gained a little control and Jakes corner went straight in with Jack very close to heading it, it was a great delivery . A mention to Jake who really did a great job for the team ,he played left back and looked like he had always played there.WELL DONE JAKE. Half Time 2 v 1. The 2nd half started with Colton being on top and with us still trying to play our way up the pitch Colton nicked the ball in midfield and one pass later the ball was at there strikers feet and he finished expertly. The game was now very even and to be fair we did not look like we would break them down, they were organized and more committed, and they looked to have more of a threat. But with a couple of minutes remaining the ball was played by Scotty into there box and Olly who had not been on his game took a touch out of his feet a cross 2 defenders and hit the ball through a gap between the 2 committed defenders for the winner . A great finnish. Not in the game for long periods then comes up with a classic strikers goal. I have to say well done to Colton may be a fair result would have been a draw.GOALS Lewis 1 Jake 1 Olly 1
Rothwell Jnrs 3 Garforth Villa 1
A good game which we had won by half time. 1st half we played some lovely football and we got what we deserved. Ryan scored the 1st when good work by Scotty put the goal on a plate. That was great work by Scot. The 2nd came from Denham and at last he as got the monkey off his back, lets see the little dynamite go now. The 3rd was an header by Olly yes an Header from a corner and he put his head to it like a proper striker. The 2nd half was still us playing good stuff but Garforth were more committed and put us under more pressure in midfield . With around 5 mins left Garforth got a corner and when the ball came in one of our players got in the way of the ball and it hit his hand and the ref gave a penalty. Aaron got his hand to the kick but couldnt stop it.GOALS Ryan B 1 Denham 1 Olly 1

Colton have certainly improved and gave us a really good game, We went 1 up from a Olly corner then Colton scored 2 .Half time 2 v 1. 2nd started and Colton went 3 1 up. Then the referee gave a free kick for a back pass which was a strange decision, but with all Coltons players on the goal line Scotty played the ball back to Olly and with everyone thinking he was going to smash the ball he coolly passed the ball into the corner. Colton then scored a goal that should never been allowed the ball was clearly a yard out of play before he crossed the ball and all the Rothwell players stopped and allowed the Colton striker to hit the ball in the goal. We then scored again with the keeper about to pick the ball up Olly challenged and nipped the ball from the keepers grasp and slotted it home. Then after Colton had got there fifth Ryan once again nipped in front of the keeper and the ball went in. A really good competitive game with two contrasting styles well done Colton. With boys fit again ,we were never in any trouble and our play was really good. Jack was always a threat and with playing an offside trap we found it quite easy to penetrate them.Good performance by all.goals Jack 3 Olly 1
Rothwell Jnrs 1 St Joseph 5
Our boys have had a lot to deal with over the last 6 weeks, and with Jake, Jack, Olly,Lewis not very well,Tom off iil and George injured we new we would have an uphill struggle against a very good team. The 1st 10 mins we seemed to be on top and looked ok , but St Josephs started to dominate in midfield and broke strongly from both central and wide areas . St Joes went in front after 17 mins from a shot from outside the area, but within 4 mins we equalized when Olly smashed the ball in from 6 yards. The game though was there for the visitors and they took the lead with a carbon copy of the 1st, half time 1 v 2. The 2nd half started St Joes scored, but then we had 2 or 3 chances hitting the post once but was not to be and St Joes scored a further 2 goals for a well deserved victory. Goal Olly 1
Colton 0 Rothwell Juniors 2 (league Cup)
After a couple of weeks with no game,we went to play Colton on a good pitch with short grass. Both teams enjoyed the excellent conditions and played some excellent football but Rothwell always had the edge and really should have had the game sown up after 20mins. Half time though was 0 0. Rothwell came out in the 2nd half and scored after a few minutes and it seemed to wake Colton up and they pressed for a few minutes, but Rothwell were always dangerous on the break and the 2nd sealed the win with no way back and the visitors left with a place in the semi final .Goals Jack 1 Scotty 1
A FANTASTIC PERFORMANCE BY BOTH TEAMS
Rothwell Juniors 1 Pannal 2 (County Cup quarter final)
The score doesn't tell the full story,on a fantastic pitch both teams went at it. But as we have done all season we started very sloppy and misplaced passes in the first 20 minutes really caused us to concede 2 unnecessary goals . Pannal though do knock the ball around well and our poor play led to them taking the lead. We gave the ball away high in there half and 2 passes later there player ran through and finished well. The 2nd again playing along our back line on the half way line, one of our players passed straight to a pannal player and he ran from the half way line and seemed to toe poke the ball past the keeper .Quite unreal that both goals were very similar . We were 2 down within twenty minutes and normally we would pick ourselves up and come back and win,but against a very cute team we found it hard going . We did however have a fantastic chance just before the break Jack crossed from the left and six yards out Olly placed it just wide. Half Time 0 - 2. The 2nd half started with a couple of positional changes and it wasn't long before we started to dominate possession and pushing Pannal back . Pannal though were always dangerous on the counter attack, and on one occasion could have scored but a great save from Matty. All there breaks were exactly the same us pushing and them nicking the ball and quickly moving forward.one of there boys was probably nearly six foot and he could kick further head further and run more powerfully, i think a couple of the Rothwell lads were a little intimidated by him. The onslaught really started with around 20 minutes left and we turned the screw with corner after corner cross after cross, but they blocked shots end defended great . With 6 minutes left a great right foot shot by Tom Elliott produced a grand stand finnish and we went straight back on the attack . It was very frantic and the Pannal keeper produced a great save from Jack .They seemed to be dropping further and further back and it was just a matter of time before we equalized ,but in the end as the ref blew his whistle Olly swivelled and volleyed the ball into the corner of the net but 2 seconds too late. It was a great game and i hope Pannal go on to win the competition. This may be good for us in the long run and now we have played Pannal, i believe that now i know there way we have the players next time we play them to give them another fine game. Two great teams that will meet i have no doubt in the future .As the ref said it should have been a draw and the final. WELL DONE BOYS WE WILL BE BACK MAKE NO MISTAKE. A mention to Jordan and Tom for there fantastic performances Goal.Tom Elliott 1
Rothwell Jnrs 1 Horton Foxes 1
Horton came with a great attitude and caused us problems there 3 central defenders did really well and 1 of there strikers was a good player. One one was a fair result, but we nearly won it in the final minute when Ryan unleashed a thunderbolt but the Horton keeper produced a fantastic save.Goals Olly 1
Rothwell 5 Colton 3 (county cup 4rth round)
After a couple of weeks off we started very slowly and colton were 2 up within ten minutes. But the boys soon settled and by half time we were 3 to 2 up with chances going begging. Second half started the way the first ended and it wasn't long before we went 5 t 2 in front, the game was over and with us missing lots of chances the game seemed to be dying out. In the final minute colton scored there third , a good game to get us going again.GOALS Jack 2 Olly1 Jake 1 Scotty 1
Menston 1 Rothwell Juniors 8 (County Cup 3rd round)
On a really nasty morning and a muddy pitch, the boys tried and did play some really good football. We were camped in the Menston half and it was not long before Olly was brought down on the edge of the area ,he picked himself up and drove the free kick into the bottom corner of the net . Dominant was how we were playing but one long ball and Menston went into our half and the boy unleashed a great shot which surprised Aaron and we could not believe it . We again started on the attack and Olly played Ryan in and a great shot to take the lead. The third was crossed by Jake and Olly volleyed into the roof of the net.Half time 3 1 up. The second half started the way the first finished and the fourth goal was scored by a good header by Jack but a great cross by Adam. Again we started to press straight from the kick off and our hard working skillfull left winger Jake made his own goal great goal. The sixth goal was crossed by Ryan and Olly placed it into Jacks path for a tap in. The seventh was ollys 3rd and a shot from around 20 yrds beat the keeper. The last goal was again by our our jack in a box Jake with another cool finnish. With a couple of minutes left Jake again burst into the box and laid a fantastic ball into scotty but the ball just bounced up and Scotty unluckily hit the ball over the bar. Quick mention to Jack for passing Jake for his workrate and ambition, and Olly for being available and clever passing. Well done boys ,great football in horrendous conditions. Goals Olly 3 Jack 2 Jake 2 Ryan G 1
Rothwell Jnrs 6 Yorkshire Amateurs 0
A good tidy display but not our best . Not the best free flowing football but give credit to the amas, they closed us down and made the game untidy. Our 1st goal was scored by Jack with a hard drive, the 2nd a good through ball that was smashed into the roof of the net by Olly. The 3rd was a great corner by Ryan that Jack glanced in and the 4rth 5 minutes before the break was by Jake again cooly finished . Half Time 4 nil. We changed the team at the break and it wasn't long before we started to dominate proceedings. The 5th was a great reverse pass by Scotty that Jack hit the ball hard and the keeper couldn't stop it. The last goal was once again a fantastic pass by Scotty into Olly and he ran on and placed the ball cooly into the bottom corner.Goals Olly 3 Jack 2 Jake 1
Rothwell Jnrs 3 St Josephs 2 (League Cup)
After last weeks draw, and our dominance throughout the game you would have thought it could have been a wider margin. In fact the game was much tougher than last weeks and St Joes gave a great account of themselves, they were much quicker in the tackle than last week and used there physical nature to upset our passing game. By half time the game was at stalemate with possession pretty equal, but the 2 best chances in the 1st half fell to our new boy Denham Saxton but his lack of match action over the last 9 months proved vital, it won't be long that he is showing us his quality. The 2nd half started with a quite brilliant save from Aaron Cooper as St Joes broke away. It wasn't long though that St Joes broke away again a great tackle by Jordan as there striker was just to let fly hit the post and as it spun across the line one of our own defenders knocked it in to our own net. That was just the spur the Rothwell boys needed and within 5 minutes George Hamnett unleashed a great drive from the edge of the box that the keeper could not stop. Some of the Rothwell boys need to work like the 3 central midfielders as in the 2 games against our foes they have been brilliant. St joes though don't lie down and a fantastic individual goal was finished like a seasoned pro. Once again we had to come from behind and this time it was the impressive Jake Mitchell with a terrific shot. Two two now and 10 minutes left, now we started to press with Jordan Emery pushing us forward and winning every midfield ball it was only a matter of time. When we received a free kick around 20 yards out Jordan put the ball down and placed it in the top corner. Again the celebrations were like last weeks all clambering over each other, but there was still 7 minutes left. The last 5 minutes seemed to be played out down in the right hand corner of St joes as Olly seemed to keep the ball down that area himself getting throw in after throw, and with Scotty and Olly's football brain in the last couple of minutes the game played itself out. A great performance over the last 2 weeks lets keep up the brilliant pass and move football we all love. Every player involved or not in these 2 games is a credit to what we are trying to achieve here at Rothwell juniors. Thanks to the parents and boys who did not get a run out GOALS George 1 Jake 1 Jordan 1
St Josephs 2 Rothwell Jnrs 2
I have to say that the boys were absolutely brilliant today. From the 1st whistle we dominated, and our attractive fast flowing football should by half time put us well in control.St Josephs had one attack and scored from it. Good play from there striker broke away and his pull back was put into the net. Unreal thats all i can really say possession and chances were all in our favour, our 1st goal was scored by Jack Waters and well deserved for our constant attacking . Half time was 1 each. The second started the way the first ended, and for the first fifteen minutes once again we pushed them back and really should have had the game sown up. One thing about St joes they keep working hard and wait for a mistake, and with around 12 mins left they got a corner. The ball was well delivered under the crossbar and with bodies everywhere the ball crept into the net. For the next five minutes we seemed to lose our way and St Joes started to grow in confidence,to be truthful we looked like we could be beaten which would have been a travesty. However with five minutes left we got a free kick from around 30 yrds and a quite brilliant strike from Oliver Rimmington sailed into the corner of the net leaving the keeper with no chance. Every Rothwell player piled on top of Olly. The last few minutes Rothwell pushed for the winner and had one more good chance but it wasn't to be. A great game and every player should be proud of themselves .YOU WERE BRILL. Next week we are at home to St Joes in the cup, lets go out and play like that, they can not cope with you GOALS Jack1 Olly 1
Rothwell Jnrs 8 Seacroft Colts 2. County cup 2nd round
Our first game for 3 weeks in atrocious weather conditions made the game a little messy, but after the boys went 1 nil down we started to dominate and play some attractive football against the wind. At half time we were 3 v 1 up and it was just a matter of how many goals we would score. We did try and play and thats all we can ask of them.A good team performance GOALS Jake 3 Scott 2 Tom1 Ryan B 1 Olly 1

Not the greatest performance,as i think we had it too easy so some boys wanted to play where they wanted.I have to get it into them that if you spread out and make the pitch as big as possible ,this is much harder for teams to mark us,and we do not go into other players areas which then means the game becomes too congested.GOALS Jack 3 Olly 2 Jordan2 Scott 2 Jake 1 Sam 1

A terrific performance and within ten minutes we were 4 up.It gave us the chance to use our squad. The boys were too good at the back for there strikers ,too quick and decisive in midfield, and miles too strong up front for there defenders. It was a good team performance by all boys with some great teamwork. Goals Olly 5 Jack 2 Scot 2 Lewis 1 Jake 1

U11 cup winners and league champions. U10 League Champions. U9 League Champions
As we go for a straight 4rth league championship, i think its important that we keep our boys feet on the ground and hopefully the lads will settle into there new schools without too much fuss. School work is very important and should be the 1st thing the boys concentrate on.We will be training twice a week but you only have to come to 1 session (friday) to be considered to play,as they will be getting homework and some lads may find the going tough at school. Lets have a great season and hopefully we all enjoy the football.
