Rothwell Juniors under 9's travelled to Batley to play this cup semi final and it was their first game since December 2nd when they lost 5-1 at Batley.
They were determined to put on a better show this time but again were under strength with defender Megan away on holiday and with a little shuffling they put up a brave fight and scared Batley when they took the lead after 15 minutes Milly on her debut scoring with a fine strike.
But again the defence was caught out and Batley scored twice just before half time Rothwell failing to clear the ball to lead 2-1.
Shannon who had played really well in the first half went into goals
and Keeper Olivia coming out to try strengthen the defence.
And it seemed to work the juniors creating 2 or 3 chances which poor finishing again let them down.
With time running out Rothwell pushed forward and were caught out when Batley broke and scored a third with a scramble goal that should have been cleared 3-1.
But from the kick off Lucy found Emliy out on the right and she scored with a fine shot giving the Batley keeper no chance 3-2
But it wasn't to be the Juniors day when Batley scored with the last kick of the match to finish 4-2 winners.
Well done to all the girls who gave it their best and Batley who were just that bit stronger on the day than Rothwell.
