Amaranth v Rothwell Juniors (11.11.2007)
Today saw us away to Amaranth who were sat 2nd bottom in the league and so 6 points were really required to keep our push towards the top of the table.

We arrived at Amaranths ground, and felt positive as soon as we saw their pitch. It was like a bowling green, perfect for our style of passing football. The teams were slightly switched around today with Eugene making his league debut at Centre Forward, and going straight into the first team (after some impressive displays for the 3rd team, and in training!) Louis Naylor came into defence and Andy Slinger going into the 2nd team to strengthen the midfield. What followed was almost beyond belief, as goal after goal continued to hit the Amaranth net (to their utter bewilderment!) They simply didn’t know what had hit them! – to quote, an Amaranth parent asked “ where’s this lot from? Brazil?” Impossible to give details of the goals but the first team won 16:0 and the 2nd team won 9:0.

* A dream start for Eugene who helped himself to 9 goals – outstanding
*A special mention to Charlie who scored his first ever goal in Rothwell Jnrs colours (and brought tears to his mums eyes!!)
* A hat trick for Nathan
* Matthew bagged 2
* Oliver finished the match with a cracker
2nd team
* Andy got 3
* Kieran got 3
* Joe got 2
* And Ryan got the other

Fantastic performances all round, simply couldn’t be faulted, and to think their biggest ever defeat before was 7:0 puts it all into perspective.

A special mention to the defenders Ben, Sam, Louis and Charlie and the goalkeepers James and Alan who between them never conceded a goal in 80 minutes football – an outstanding achievement

Well done boys, you made us all proud
